HIGH DESERT SHORTS INTERNATIONAL FILM, ART, WINE, & MUSIC FESTIVAL SET FOR MAY 23-26

Weekend festivities to include international film screenings, live music, art exhibits, fine wine and food

PAHRUMP, Nev. (May 7, 2013) —A new year sets an unprecedented stage at the eighth annual High Desert Shorts International Film, Art, Wine, & Music Festival taking place in Pahrump, Nev., May 23 – 26, 2013. This year’s event boasts international film screenings, live music, art exhibits, fine wine and food at both the Pahrump Nugget and Sanders Family Winery.

Featuring a program of short films from across the world, representation from nearly 10 countries compete in five main film categories: comedy, drama, horror-science fiction and audience favorite. Additional categories include awards for best actor, best score, best screenplay and best cinematography. All filmmakers in attendance also have the opportunity to field audience questions during question and answer sessions. Past events have featured over 13 countries including every continent on the globe with the exception of Antarctica. Nationally, there have been submissions from 41 states.

Festivities kick off Thursday, May 23, 2013, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Sanders Family Winery. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy wine, a cash bar, world music concert and a juried art exhibit and competition.

The event continues Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Pahrump Nugget. Press are invited to interview competing film makers 12 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Film screenings begin 6 p.m. Friday evening with awards taking place 6 p.m. Sunday evening. An after party commences immediately following the awards ceremony.
